In September 2025, the national consumer price index decreased by 0.3% year-on-year. Urban areas saw a decrease of 0.2%, while rural areas decreased by 0.5%. Food prices dropped by 4.4%, while non-food prices increased by 0.7%. Consumer goods prices fell by 0.8%, and service prices rose by 0.6%. On average from January to September, the national consumer price index decreased by 0.1% compared to the same period last year.

In September, the national consumer price index increased by 0.1% month-on-month. Urban areas remained unchanged, while rural areas increased by 0.2%. Food prices rose by 0.7%, while non-food prices decreased by 0.1%. Consumer goods prices increased by 0.3%, and service prices fell by 0.3%.

I. Year-on-Year Price Changes for Various Goods and Services

In September, prices for food, tobacco, and alcohol decreased by 2.6% year-on-year, contributing to a decrease of approximately 0.74 percentage points in the CPI (Consumer Price Index). Among food items, fresh vegetable prices dropped by 13.7%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.35 percentage points in the CPI. Egg prices fell by 11.9%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.08 percentage points. Livestock meat prices decreased by 8.4%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.27 percentage points, with pork prices specifically falling by 17.0%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.26 percentage points. Fresh fruit prices dropped by 4.2%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.09 percentage points. Grain prices decreased by 0.7%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.01 percentage points. Aquatic product prices increased by 0.9%, contributing to an increase of about 0.02 percentage points.

Among the other seven major categories, six saw price increases and one saw a decrease year-on-year. Prices for other goods and services, household goods and services, and clothing increased by 9.9%, 2.2%, and 1.7%, respectively. Healthcare, education, culture, and entertainment, and housing prices increased by 1.1%, 0.8%, and 0.1%, respectively. Transportation and communication prices decreased by 2.0%.

II. Month-on-Month Price Changes for Various Goods and Services

In September, prices for food, tobacco, and alcohol increased by 0.5% month-on-month, contributing to an increase of approximately 0.13 percentage points in the CPI. Among food items, fresh vegetable prices rose by 6.1%, contributing to an increase of about 0.13 percentage points. Egg prices increased by 2.7%, contributing to an increase of about 0.02 percentage points. Fresh fruit prices rose by 1.7%, contributing to an increase of about 0.03 percentage points. Aquatic product prices decreased by 1.8%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.04 percentage points. Pork prices fell by 0.7%, contributing to a decrease of about 0.01 percentage points.

Among the other seven major categories, four saw price increases, one remained unchanged, and two decreased month-on-month. Prices for other goods and services and clothing increased by 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively. Household goods and services and healthcare prices increased by 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively. Housing prices remained unchanged. Transportation and communication, and education, culture, and entertainment prices decreased by 0.9% and 0.4%, respectively.
