On June 1, from Chongqing, the headline: “Taiwanese Businessman Gifts Zongzi for Ten Years, Wishing for Great Liangshan Children to Become ‘Messengers of Love and Hope’
Traveling over 600 kilometers and taking a 9-hour drive, 500 Taiwanese braised pork zongzi were recently delivered from Chongqing to a primary school deep in the Great Liangshan area of Sichuan.
These zongzi were provided for free by a Taiwanese restaurant owner and delivered to Xin Yuwen Primary School in Qianha Village, Longmen Township, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province (originally Qianha Village Boai Primary School). This tradition has remained unbroken for the past ten years.
“This is my promise to the Great Liangshan,” said the restaurant owner, as he skillfully wrapped the zongzi, adding that every bite the children take is wrapped by his hands, and he never forgets them every Dragon Boat Festival.
