Alas Pilipinas fell to Tunisia, 25-13, 25-17, 25-23, in the opening match of the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena.
After trailing for most of the match, the Philippines had a taste of a lead in the third set, 6-4, after a Bryan Bagunas ace.
The Philippines again held a 9-8 lead after a Peng Taguibolos attack, but Tunisia eventually flexed its championship exposure, being an 11-time champion of the African Volleyball Championship.
Alas Pilipinas will face Egypt next on Tuesday.
