【Things in China】Innovation Products Capture Global Consumers’ Attention: Gleaning Insights from “Created in China” on China’s Economic Resilience

China Daily Report on May 26th New energy vehicles, as a representative work of “Created in China”, are gaining increasing global consumer attention. Over the past decade, Chinese new energy vehicles have been exported to more than 70 countries and regions worldwide. According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment’s data, sales of China’s new energy vehicles account for more than 70% of the global total, ranking first in the world for consecutive ten years.

Chinese innovative, environmentally friendly, and stylish new energy vehicles have captivated Raydis Franco from Tianjin, decisively leading him to pursue a Chinese driving license. He stated: “Chinese new energy vehicles are amazing! Once I obtain my license, I plan to first rent one, and later potentially purchase for daily commutes and traveling.”

Besides new energy vehicles, Chinese innovative products such as foldable smartphones, bone conduction headphones, and humanoid robots frequently step into the international stage. Transitioning from a “cheap and low quality” stereotype to leveraging technological innovation and industrial upgrade driving economic growth, Chinese products have achieved qualitative leaps in competitiveness. The “Created in China” wave is propelling Chinese products to become globally accepted with new postures.

Carlos Alvarado from Costa Rica is inseparable from his beloved Xiaomi smartphone. He said: “(This phone) boasts rich functions, smooth operations, and high cost-effectiveness! Chinese products have great quality and are reasonably priced, very popular in Costa Rica.” He also plans to buy a smart and energy-efficient Chinese washing machine, “to free my mom from household chores.”

Despite current tense geopolitical situations and rising protectionism in trade, China continues to demonstrate strong economic resilience, relying on an efficient and stable industrial chain supply system and continuously optimizing its innovative ecosystem. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in April, China’s total import and export of goods amounted to 3.8391 trillion yuan, increasing by 5.6% year-on-year, driving the overall foreign trade growth to 2.4% over the first four months. Among them, exports increased by 9.3% to 2.27 trillion yuan, while imports grew by 0.8% to 1.57 trillion yuan.

Yu Yongding, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, mentioned that the comprehensive advantages of “Created in China” in terms of industrial chain, product competitiveness, and innovation are essential proponents of China’s efforts to break trade barriers, uphold the global free trade system, and maintain international economic order. An article published in Mongolia’s “Flash Report” also noted recently that while other countries build “small courtyards with high walls”, China has opened its economic, cultural, and digital doors, not only activating domestic market demand but also providing new options for global consumers.

Russian entrepreneur Svetlana Olkhovikova, based in the Tianjin Free Trade Pilot Zone, mainly deals with exporting Chinese agricultural and medical equipment. Currently, her business covers more than 20 countries and regions including Russia, Kazakhstan, and South Korea.

“Our business cooperation with China is highly efficient and filled with innovative spirit. Our products offer price advantages and customized services, backed by China’s strong manufacturing capabilities and specialized expertise,” Olkhovikova stated. “The Chinese market is vast, and many high-quality goods produced here demonstrate continued growing demand overseas, presenting endless business opportunities to global entrepreneurs.”

Meanwhile, with the assistance of domestic AI models like “DeepSeek”, businesses in Zhejiang Yiwu International Trade City transform into “global sales pioneers” merely by speaking to a camera. This enables them to easily generate customized multilingual product introduction videos, thus promoting their products globally.

Phan Dinh Thang from Vietnam saw these product introduction videos on social media and praised them: “It’s incredible! I watched videos introducing Chinese products in Vietnamese, where the descriptions were very accurate and professional, which significantly facilitated our purchasing decisions for Chinese products.”

Ksenia Bondarenko, Associate Professor at the World Economics Institute of Russia National Research University Higher School of Economics, pointed out that “Created in China” has rapidly risen over recent years, making remarkable achievements, especially in sectors such as artificial intelligence, 5G communication, e-commerce, and electric vehicles. Also, she believes that under the complex and ever-changing global economic backdrop, China’s hyper-strong economic resilience is incredibly rare and valuable.
