Police have arrested a rogue teacher with the initials JP (59) who sexually harassed a female junior high school student in West Bekasi, Bekasi City, West Java. It turns out that JP committed the despicable acts against his student not just once.

Initially, the perpetrator JP’s vile actions went viral on social media and triggered a demonstration by the school’s alumni. According to the viral video narrative, the demonstration was held on Monday (25/8).

Alumni came to the junior high school and demanded that the rogue physical education teacher be fired. The crowd also demanded the school take firm action against the teacher in question.

A number of facts were revealed after JP’s despicable acts went viral on social media. Here are the facts:

1. Perpetrator Arrested

Police moved to investigate the alleged harassment committed by the rogue junior high school teacher against his student in West Bekasi. The perpetrator has now been arrested.

« We have arrested the perpetrator, » said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Bekasi City Police, AKBP Binsar Hatorangan Sianturi, when contacted on Tuesday (26/8).

The perpetrator was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. Police then conducted an intensive examination of JP to further investigate the perpetrator’s statement in the case.

2. Perpetrator Harassed Student in Student Council Room

Police revealed JP’s actions, which are suspected of harassing his student. The harassment occurred while the victim was working on an assignment in the student council room.

« The victim recounted that the reported individual had groped the victim’s breasts and genitals while the victim was working on a computer assignment in the student council room, » said AKBP Binsar when contacted on Wednesday (27/8).

Binsar said the case came to light after the victim’s parent heard the story from another student’s parent. The victim’s parent then confirmed the information with the victim.

« According to the reporter’s statement, the reporter was informed by the parent of the victim’s friend, who recounted that the reported individual had groped the victim’s breasts and genitals, » he stated.

3. Perpetrator Harassed Victim 3 Times

Police revealed JP’s actions of harassing his student. It turns out the acts were committed three times.

« Based on the examination results, it is known that the perpetrator has committed lewd acts three times against the victim, » said the Bekasi City Metro Police Chief, Kombes Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, to reporters on Wednesday (27/8).

The last incident occurred on Thursday (14/8), when the perpetrator harassed the victim in the student council room. The perpetrator is known to be the student council advisor at the junior high school. Due to the perpetrator’s vile actions, the victim experienced trauma.

« It caused negative psychological effects on the victim, making the victim no longer enthusiastic about studying. Furthermore, based on the victim’s statement, as a result of these actions, the victim felt like self-harming, » he stated.

4. Suspect Faces 15 Years in Prison

The rogue teacher JP has been named a suspect after being proven to have harassed his student. The suspect status was determined after investigators found a number of pieces of evidence against the perpetrator’s actions.

« Based on sufficient evidence, the perpetrator’s actions can be charged with the criminal offense of lewd acts against a minor, » said Kombes Kusumo to reporters on Wednesday (27/8).

Suspect JP is charged under Article 82 of Indonesian Law Number 17 of 2016. JP faces a maximum criminal penalty of 15 years in prison.
