A 40-year-old woman was slashed in the neck by a man on a street in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, and later died. The Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that the man was apprehended at Haneda Airport.
At around 1:30 p.m. today, a 40-year-old woman of South Korean nationality had her neck cut with what appeared to be a bladed weapon on a street in Nozawa, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, and later passed away.
According to subsequent information from investigative sources, it has been learned that the Metropolitan Police Department apprehended the man, who had fled the scene, at Haneda Airport.
While it is reported there was “some personal trouble between the two,” sources close to the investigation indicate the woman and the man were in a relationship. On the 29th of last month, a report was made to the Metropolitan Police Department by the woman stating that “when she tried to initiate a breakup with the man, he became violent.”
At that time, the woman did not file a formal criminal complaint, and the police issued a warning to the man.
The Metropolitan Police Department has changed the suspected crime to murder and is investigating the detailed circumstances.
