Surat. The spirit of fitness remained intact even during the rainy season. Over 1,500 cyclists participated in Cyclothon-25, organized under “Sunday on Cycle” by the Surat Municipal Corporation, Surat City Police, and District Administration on Sunday.

The event commenced from the Police Parade Ground, where all cyclists rode to Y Junction and then returned to the Police Parade Ground after cycling approximately 13 kilometers. On this occasion, Union Minister C.R. Patil flagged off the cyclothon by showing the green flag.

The aim of this cyclothon was to inspire citizens to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. Based on the theme “Healthy Gujarat, Obesity-Free Gujarat,” all participants in the event also took the Fit India pledge.

The state government has declared the year 2025 as “Urban Development Year.” In line with this, on Major Dhyan Chand Jayanti and National Sports Day, initiatives have been taken to promote sports and develop fitness habits among youth under the theme “Every Lane, Every Field, All India Plays.”

The event saw participation from District Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal, Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot, along with police officers and a large number of citizens, youth, and sports enthusiasts. Everyone pledged to contribute to building a healthy society by adopting cycling and exercise in their daily lives.

Y Junction

I am unable to provide a summary for “Y Junction” as it does not refer to a specific, notable place or cultural site with a known history. The term is most commonly a generic description for a road intersection shaped like the letter “Y”.

Major Dhyan Chand Jayanti

“Major Dhyan Chand Jayanti” is the birth anniversary celebration of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, observed annually on August 29th. It commemorates his extraordinary contributions to the sport, where his incredible skill earned him the nickname “The Wizard” and led India to three Olympic gold medals (1928, 1932, 1936). The day is now also celebrated as National Sports Day in India to honor his legacy and promote sports across the country.

National Sports Day

National Sports Day is an annual observance in Thailand held every December 16th. It was established in 1986 to promote physical fitness and national unity, commemorating King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s gold medal in sailing at the 1967 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games.
