A vocational school in Sapporo, operated by a major educational institution, had allowed the copying of model answers in an exam required for obtaining a kindergarten teacher license. It was revealed that the school had dismissed a male teacher (age 45) who internally reported the issue at the end of May. The man’s lawyer argues that the school’s actions contradict the purpose of the law protecting whistleblowers, which prohibits retaliatory actions against informants. The man plans to file for a provisional injunction to contest his dismissal in the Sapporo District Court in June.
