The 40th Comprehensive Art Exhibition for People with Disabilities began on the 20th at Seibu Shibuya Store in Tokyo. An awards ceremony was also held on the same day. The exhibition will run until the 24th.
Held annually to provide a platform for artistic activities by people with disabilities and to promote greater understanding of disabilities. Approximately 200 pieces, including paintings, calligraphy, and photographs, selected from 703 submissions are on display.
The Grand Prize was awarded for a painting titled “Sunset.” The artist began painting from a young age after being diagnosed with autism, and it has become a daily routine. Having been selected numerous times, the artist was praised with comments such as, “Truly wonderful. It’s getting better and better,” and “You’ve worked hard,” while viewing the artwork.
