A tragic accident occurred on the Jombang-Mojokerto Toll Road, precisely at KM 686, Pesantren Village, Tembelang District, Jombang Regency, early Tuesday morning. A Wuling Convero car with license plate AG 1175 FX hit the rear of a 20-ton flour-loaded Fuso truck. The strong impact resulted in fatalities at the scene.
The unfortunate incident occurred around 05:00 WIB. The Wuling car, driven by Noviadi (47), a resident of Bekasi, was traveling from Madiun towards Surabaya. Upon reaching the location, the vehicle carrying three people lost control and directly hit the Fuso truck with license plate K 9778 SP, driven by Bali Arjo (57), a resident of Boyolali, Central Java.
As a result of the severe impact, the Wuling car was badly crushed, almost unrecognizable. All three passengers inside the car were reported dead at the scene.
“I was in the left lane, suddenly from behind I was hit by a Wuling car at high speed. After that, the car was crushed and its passengers did not survive,” stated the Fuso truck driver when asked for a statement.
Police officers who received the report immediately went to the location to carry out an evacuation. The wreckage of both vehicles was taken away, while the victims’ bodies were evacuated to the hospital.
The authorities stated they are still investigating the cause of the accident.
“We are still conducting a further investigation. The vehicle evidence has been secured and we have also asked for a statement from the surviving truck driver,” it was explained.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and speed management when driving on the toll road. Drivers are urged to always maintain a safe distance, control their speed, and ensure their vehicle is in prime condition before undertaking a long journey.
