A major infrastructure project has been approved, promising to revolutionize travel between the country’s largest economic hubs. The new high-speed rail line will connect the capital with the southern port metropolis, cutting the current travel time by more than half.

The project, with an estimated budget of $15 billion, is expected to be completed within the next seven years. It will feature state-of-the-art trains capable of reaching speeds of over 350 km/h (217 mph).

“This is a monumental step forward for our national infrastructure and will provide a significant boost to economic productivity and connectivity,” a project spokesperson stated.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of next year, with the first phase focusing on the central mountainous region, which will require the excavation of several new tunnels.

Projected Economic Impact

Economic analysts predict the rail line will create over 25,000 jobs during its construction phase and thousands more for its ongoing operation and maintenance. It is also anticipated to stimulate economic growth in the smaller towns along the proposed route.

  • Reduction in highway congestion and carbon emissions.
  • Increased tourism and business travel.
  • Development of new commercial zones around station hubs.
