According to the Ministry of Water Resources, on August 19, heavy to torrential rain fell in southern Liaoning, central Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, central Shanxi, western Gansu, eastern Guangdong, southern Fujian, most of Guangxi, southern Guizhou, and southern Yunnan.
Due to the rainfall, seven small and medium-sized rivers, including the Danshui River and Tonghu Lake, tributaries of the Dongjiang River in Guangdong; the Tiandeng River, a tributary of the Yujiang River in Guangxi; the Mohei River and Bajian River, tributaries of the Lixian River; and the Maguo River, a tributary of the Jinsha River in Yunnan, experienced water levels exceeding the warning stage.
Influenced by high temperatures accelerating snowmelt, the flow of the Yulong Kashi River, a tributary of the Hotan River in Xinjiang, slightly exceeded the warning level.
Currently, the Ministry of Water Resources maintains a Level IV flood control emergency response for seven provincial-level regions, including Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Ministry work teams are on the front lines of flood defense in Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, and Liaoning, assisting and providing guidance.
