Tibet Autonomous Region will hold a grand celebration on the morning of August 21st at 10:00 AM in Lhasa to mark its 60th anniversary. The event will be attended by national leadership.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on national television, and a live text and image broadcast will also be available online.

Tibet Autonomous Region

The Tibet Autonomous Region is a high-altitude plateau in China, historically known as the center of Tibetan Buddhism and home to the iconic Potala Palace. It was incorporated into the Yuan dynasty in the 13th century and later formally administered as part of China. Today, it is an autonomous region within the People’s Republic of China.

Lhasa

Lhasa is the historic capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region in China, traditionally known as the religious and administrative heart of Tibet. Its history is deeply intertwined with Tibetan Buddhism, famously centered around the iconic Potala Palace, a former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city also contains the Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s most sacred religious site.
