Hair is not just the “crowning glory,” it is now also being used to strengthen teeth. Some researchers from the United Kingdom are extracting keratin from it to mix into toothpaste.

It is reported that researchers at King’s College London are currently developing this, where keratin from wool, skin, and hair is being blended.

When used and the keratin interacts with minerals in saliva, a protective layer forms on the teeth.

Researchers add that it is similar to the natural mineral in tooth enamel.

The keratin coating can strengthen teeth, prevent decay, and reduce tooth sensitivity.
