Shanghai’s Changning District speeds up work and residence permits for foreigners coming to China.

On June 10th, the district head of Changning District, Shanghai, issued a foreign work permit and residence permit for an employee. This is the first foreign work permit and residence permit issued this year in the Yangtze River Delta region, facilitated by an integrated government service team and an efficient collaborative working mechanism established across three provinces and one city in the region.

“The speed of government processing, the convenience of the operation, and the enthusiasm of the service were beyond my expectations,” said the recipient, a Polish global contract manager, after receiving the new foreign work permit and residence permit.

It is understood that the manager’s work and residence permits in Jiangsu were about to expire. Thanks to the real-time communication mechanism established by the integrated service team, and through multi-level regional coordination, mutual recognition of rules, and data sharing of certificates and licenses, the time for canceling and processing the new and old permits was reduced by nearly two-thirds.

“The change is not only in the time but also in the psychological experience,” said the HR manager of the company. The company is deeply integrated into China’s high-quality shipbuilding industry development, recruiting foreign experts with professional skills to join local project teams
