Labuhanbatu. A group of residents from Jalan Taruna-45 Ujung, Lingkungan Terminal, Padangbulan, Rantau Utara, Labuhanbatu visited the Tugu Juang Lobusona monument in Rantau Selatan District on Friday (15/8/2025).

The residents, organized under BKM Musala Baitul Ghufron Al-Mukhtari, along with youth from the Taruna-45 prayer group and advisors, conducted a social service event in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.

The head of BKM explained that the visit included a cleanup activity around the monument and the distribution of food packages to its caretaker.

Their presence, along with the youth prayer group, was also an effort to honor the sacrifices of national heroes, both in the struggle for independence and in defending it.

“This event is not just ceremonial. We have already held a moment of reflection, silent prayer, communal work, and the distribution of food supplies,” he said.

He added that their visit also served as a reminder of the monument’s establishment and its shared name with their residential area.

“The date of our visit coincides exactly with the inauguration date of this monument. Not only that, the names are also the same—Tugu Juang-45 and Jalan Taruna-45.”

Meanwhile, the head of the local youth organization stated that while the struggle for independence is over, the current challenge is educating the younger generation to uphold its values.

“Our duty is to fill this independence with positive activities, educate the youth, and fulfill the hopes of past fighters. We must create a beneficial generation that never forgets the heroes’ sacrifices,” he said.

The caretaker of the Tugu Juang-45 Lobusona monument expressed gratitude for the concern shown by the residents of Jalan Taruna-45 and the youth organization. She hoped their contributions would be a blessing for all.

During the visit, the group cleaned the area around the monument alongside the caretaker and donated two sacks of rice and other food supplies.
