MANILA, Philippines — President Bongbong Marcos has reportedly chosen a new secretary for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) following rumors that Secretary Manny Bonoan plans to resign soon.
According to a DPWH insider, Undersecretary for Planning Services Maria Catalina Cabral is likely to be appointed as the department’s secretary, as she has been indicating in official meetings.
The source stated that Cabral had already applied for the DPWH secretary position when Bonoan submitted his courtesy resignation after the President requested cabinet members to step down following the election results.
The source also mentioned that Bonoan trusts Cabral, which is why she has been assigned to nearly all sensitive positions within the department.
Nevertheless, the source believes Cabral has the capacity to serve as DPWH secretary, given her extensive experience in public works.
