Beijing, June 9 — Recently, the earthwork, slope protection, and dewatering work for the first phase of the North China University of Technology Yanqing Campus construction project have largely been completed, marking the start of main structure construction and accelerating campus development. The first phase is planned to be fully operational by September 2028.

The first phase of the North China University of Technology Yanqing Campus is located in the southeastern part of the new Yanqing city area, covering a total area of 33.49 hectares with a total building area of approximately 522,000 square meters, including 459,000 square meters above ground and 63,000 square meters underground. The project follows the principle of “overall planning, phased land supply, and phased construction,” divided into four construction sections. It includes public buildings such as a library, a comprehensive activity center, and an administrative office building, as well as teaching and living facilities like classroom buildings, dormitories, a university hospital, and a cafeteria, totaling 23 individual buildings. Outdoor utility pipelines, road and square renovations, lighting installation, and wall and gate construction within the campus boundary are also being carried out simultaneously.

Since the start of earthwork, slope protection, and dewatering construction in December 2025, the construction team has steadily progressed, largely completing these tasks by May 2026. Currently, the project focuses on advancing various foundation treatment processes.

According to the construction plan, the project will reach the zero level of main structure by September 2026. Among these, the first and second sections, including three dormitory buildings, two classroom buildings, one cafeteria, and one university hospital, are scheduled to complete final inspections by July 2027 and be officially put into use in September of the same year. The overall first-phase project is expected to be fully operational by September 2028.

To fully support the project’s smooth progress, Yanqing made early arrangements and proactive services, establishing a campus construction promotion task force led by a deputy district head in 2025 to coordinate and resolve difficulties and bottlenecks during construction, providing comprehensive support for the project.

At the same time, 12 surrounding supporting infrastructure projects are being advanced to ensure that lead units handle necessary procedures efficiently and that each project proceeds orderly according to milestones.

“The North China University of Technology Yanqing Campus project is a key project at both the district and city levels, significant for improving education quality, talent aggregation, and industry-education integration in the Yanqing area. Going forward, we will continue to provide thorough full-process service support for project construction, closely monitor key milestones, and urge all construction parties to strictly follow plans and schedules. We will also maintain regular coordination and dispatch to efficiently resolve various difficult issues, ensuring high-quality construction and timely operation of the project.”

Library of Alexandria

The Library of Alexandria, founded in the 3rd century BCE in Egypt, was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world, serving as a major center of scholarship and learning. It aimed to collect all the world’s knowledge, attracting renowned thinkers like Euclid and Eratosthenes. Although it was gradually destroyed over centuries, its legacy endures, and the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina was inaugurated in 2002 to revive its spirit.
