Security personnel from the Patra Team, 2nd Company, Battalion D, Satbrimob of Metro Jaya Police thwarted a planned brawl between youth groups in West Bekasi, Bekasi City, West Java. Officers secured three youths carrying sharp weapons.

“Seeing the presence of officers in the field, the group of youths immediately scattered, trying to flee. Responding to the situation, officers immediately conducted a measured pursuit and successfully secured three suspected perpetrators at the scene,” said the Commander of Brimob, Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, in his statement on Saturday (6/6/2026).

Senior Commissioner Henik said officers were on routine patrol at 7:00 AM local time this morning. During the patrol, officers spotted a crowd of youths with suspicious movements strongly suspected of planning a brawl in the Jakasampurna area, West Bekasi, Bekasi City.

“From the intensive examination and search at the crime scene, officers successfully seized evidence in the form of sharp weapons prepared for violent acts, including 6 sickles, 1 machete, 2 modified sharp weapons, and 1 knife,” he said.

Officers also secured 10 mobile phones and 8 motorcycles left behind by the group of youths. Henik said this swift action in the field is a concrete implementation of the police’s preventive function to eliminate potential security disturbances before they escalate and cause casualties.

“The Patra Team of 2nd Company, Battalion D, Satbrimob moved quickly to pursue after detecting a group of youths strongly suspected of planning a brawl. Every potential security disturbance in the jurisdiction of Metro Jaya Police will always be responded to quickly, firmly, measurably, and humanely to guarantee the community’s right to feel safe,” he said.

He said the three youths were handed over to the West Bekasi Police Station for further investigation. He urged parents to be more vigilant and monitor their children’s social interactions.

“Metro Jaya Police continuously urges all levels of society, especially parents, to increase supervision of their children’s activities and social circles to prevent them from falling into street crime or brawls,” he said.

Senior Commissioner Henik also urged the public to use the Indonesian National Police’s 110 call center if they encounter security disturbances.

“The public is also asked to actively participate in maintaining a conducive environment and immediately use the official police call center 110 if they see or know of any potential security disturbances for responsive early handling,” he said.
