The Criminal Investigation Directorate of the North Sumatra Regional Police uncovered a syndicate involved in motorcycle embezzlement and a warehouse storing stolen motorcycles on Jalan Perjuangan, Jermal XV, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency.

Four suspects with different roles were arrested. Police seized five motorcycles without complete documentation and one Android phone as evidence.

The suspects include Gurmit Singh alias Ringku (49), the main perpetrator; Surianto Hutabarat, a receiver of stolen goods; Muhammad Arif alias Arif (43), an intermediary for pawning motorcycles; and Rudi Hartono Hutabarat (49), another receiver of stolen motorcycles.

The investigation began after a police report was filed by a victim, Jas Want Singh alias Potek (57), regarding an incident on August 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM on Jalan Kapten Muslim Griya Sport.

The suspect, Gurmit Singh alias Ringku, visited the victim’s shop but did not find him. He then asked an employee, Elman Jaya Bulele, to borrow a Vario motorcycle, claiming he needed to withdraw money to buy a phone. Instead, he pawned the motorcycle in Jermal XV.

After borrowing the motorcycle, the suspect went to Tanjung Morawa to borrow money from his uncle but failed to meet him. He then proceeded to Jermal XV and pawned the black Vario 160cc motorcycle for Rp 3,200,000.

Gurmit Singh was later arrested at his residence on Jalan Karya Amal. Based on his confession, Muhammad Arif, Surianto Hutabarat, and Rudi Hartono Hutabarat were also apprehended.

From Rudi Hartono Hutabarat, four motorcycles suspected to be stolen were confiscated.
