PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) confirmed a leak in a gas pipeline in the Babelan area belonging to Pertamina EP at 4:50 PM Western Indonesian Time on Sunday (June 7). The gas pipeline leak was indicated to be due to the installation activities of the Cikampek Plumpang fuel pipeline.

“Therefore, the Pertagas Emergency Response Team and several combined parties immediately acted and have been at the location to handle and secure the area,” stated a written statement from Pertagas quoted on Monday (June 8, 2026).

Pertagas stated that strategic steps and mitigation efforts have been carried out to secure the area in cooperation with the local fire department team. The response efforts at the location also involved the local authorities so that conditions can be better maintained and the area remains sterile for handling actions.

“For information, since 6:15 PM, the gas leak from the pipeline has been successfully handled and the gas flow has now been stopped to isolate the leak point and prevent further risks,” it continued.

Furthermore, intensive recovery efforts will be carried out and the situation at the location will continue to be monitored. Our top priority is the safety of the public and all personnel carrying out the work.
