“All grids are normal today based on the current supply and demand forecast,” the NGCP said in an advisory.
The grid operator, however, warned that a major plant outage or a significant increase in projected demand in the Visayas may still trigger a yellow alert.
The Visayas grid has an available capacity of 2,642 megawatts (MW) against a peak demand of 2,282 MW.
The islands-cluster has been experiencing weeks of being under yellow alert due to thin power reserves resulting from forced outages and reduced capacities at several plants.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.

While supply is still enough to meet current demand, it no longer reaches the required safety margin.
At this level, the possibility of rotational power interruptions increases.
