Bandung, West Java – The Head of the Bandung High Court, Dr. Hery Supriyono, reminded newly sworn-in lawyers to always uphold honesty, integrity, discipline, and professionalism in practicing their profession.
A statement from the DePA-RI Central Executive Board on Friday (June 5) noted that the Head of the Bandung High Court delivered this message during the DePA-RI Lawyer Oath-Taking Ceremony held at the Bandung High Court on June 4, 2026.
In his speech, Dr. Hery Supriyono stated that the legal profession is a noble one that demands high moral and professional responsibility.
According to him, only by firmly adhering to the principles of honesty, discipline, and professionalism can a lawyer gain public trust and achieve success in their career.
“Be lawyers who can reconcile, act with integrity, and be honest in carrying out their profession. Lawyers not only play a role in the courtroom but must also be able to act as mediators who can reconcile parties, so that dispute resolution can be conducted out of court when possible,” he said.
He continued that a lawyer’s success is not solely measured by victories in court, but also by their ability to provide solutions, justice, and peace for the disputing parties. Lawyers must prioritize effective dispute resolution approaches oriented toward the interests of clients and the broader public.
The Head of the Bandung High Court also reminded lawyers to always maintain professional relationships with clients. He emphasized that a lawyer must not abandon a client after receiving a power of attorney or the agreed-upon fee.
Additionally, lawyers must ensure there is no conflict of interest before accepting a case or signing a power of attorney.
“Do not let it happen that after the power of attorney is signed, especially after receiving the fee, the client is neglected. Even worse, if there is a conflict of interest. All these matters must be ensured beforehand before a lawyer accepts work,” he stressed.
He also stated that the Bandung High Court views lawyers as strategic partners in law enforcement and the pursuit of justice. Therefore, the Bandung High Court is committed to providing professional, transparent judicial services free from corrupt practices.
The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by the Acting General Chair of DePA-RI, Retired Police Inspector General Dr. A. Kamil Razak; the General Treasurer of DePA-RI, Pramono Istianto; and members of the DePA-RI West Java Regional Board.
Responding to the speech of the Head of the Bandung High Court, the General Chair of DePA-RI, Dr. Tahir Musa Luthfi Yazid, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, expressed his highest appreciation for the guidance and support given to DePA-RI lawyers.
According to Luthfi, the Bandung High Court’s commitment to providing corruption-free judicial services is a crucial step in strengthening public trust in the judiciary. He also expressed concern over various corruption cases still involving several state officials.
Amid ongoing economic challenges, he continued, all state officials, whether in the executive, legislative, or judicial branches, must work together to demonstrate dedication and best performance to rebuild public trust, both at the national and international levels.
“If this can be achieved, then the government of President Prabowo Subianto will move in an increasingly positive, stable, and trusted direction. If the opposite occurs, then the situation in our country will be very dangerous,” he said.
