The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reports that today, May 19, the weather in the Northeast region, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An will see moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain.
Rainfall from last night through today is forecast to reach 20-40mm, with some areas exceeding 100mm.
In the Northwest region, from Ha Tinh to Lam Dong, and the Southern region, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, and some places may see heavy rain over 80mm (rain concentrating in the late afternoon and night). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts may affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, transportation works, and infrastructure.
Heavy rain and localized heavy rain could cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.
