Hyderabad, Justice G. Chandraiah (72), who served as a judge in the state’s combined High Court, passed away on Saturday. Born in the village of Timmapur in the Jannaram mandal of Adilabad district, Chandraiah earned his LLM degree from Osmania University. He began practicing law in 1980, became a High Court judge in 2005, and retired in 2016.

Afterward, he served as the first chairman of the Telangana State Human Rights Commission. He had been suffering from a lung disease for some time. He died on Saturday at Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills. His only son lives in the United States. Chandraiah’s funeral will be held on Sunday, May 17, at noon at Mahaprasthanam in Hyderabad.
