Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), located in Vadodara, is India’s first central university focused on transportation and logistics. Through industry-driven education, AI, and modern courses, this institution is leading India toward ‘Developed India @2047’. Let’s learn about its achievements and placements.
India is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The country is undergoing revolutionary changes in modern infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, and the logistics sector. In this context, preparing skilled human resources has become the greatest need of the time. In this direction, under the guidance of the central government and with the collaboration of the Gujarat government, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, established on December 6, 2022, in Vadodara, is creating a new identity as the country’s first and only central university focused on transportation and logistics.
It is noteworthy that due to the development created by the Gujarat government in the fields of industry, education, and infrastructure, Vadodara is becoming a center of new possibilities. In the coming time, the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) to be held in Vadodara for the central Gujarat region is expected to further promote investment opportunities, new dimensions, and technology/research-based development in the state. This VGRC to be held in Vadodara will prove to be an important platform to showcase the state’s industrial and educational capabilities globally.
Located in the Lalbagh area of Vadodara, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is not limited to traditional education but is advancing as an “industry-driven and innovation-led” institution, connecting industry, research, and innovation together. Here, students are prepared for global careers through world-class courses in futuristic fields such as railways, aviation, maritime, road-highways, metro rail, supply chain, and artificial intelligence. The university campus is equipped with modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, research centers, hostels, and industry-integrated training facilities under additional construction.
In addition to the current campus at Lalbagh (Vadodara), Gati Shakti University is in the process of establishing another campus at Waghodia (Vadodara). Currently, more than 1,000 students from over 23 states across India are studying in various academic programs at the undergraduate/master’s/doctoral levels, which will establish a strong national ecosystem for transportation and logistics education. The courses linked with the central government’s PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy directly contribute to the country’s development.
This university offers various courses including B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and Ph.D., with a special focus on transportation and logistics. Courses ranging from AI and data science to aviation engineering and maritime engineering are preparing the new generation for a technology-based economy. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is making a significant contribution to preparing skilled manpower by providing special executive training to more than 1,100 officials from Indian Railways, defense forces, and friendly countries every year.
The biggest feature of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is that education here is not limited to the classroom. Students are also given practical experience through the centralized training institutes of Indian Railways, industry internships, live projects, and hands-on learning. With an “innovation-based and industry-based” vision, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya has gained a global position through collaboration with multiple global educational and industrial institutions including Airbus, Plasser, L&T, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Siemens, Amazon, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Nokia, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and Monash University, among others. Through facilities like the Airbus Center of Excellence, it focuses on projects such as sustainable aviation fuel R&D and AI-based transport systems, smart mobility, and logistics. The vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” is being accelerated through numerous patents and startup creations.
Notably, Associate Professor Dr. Venkat Chintala of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya was recognized by the honorable President of India for the development of new technology in the fields of sustainability. A recent MOU with New South Wales Transport (Australia) has further strengthened research and technology partnerships in the transportation and logistics sectors.
