Amul to set up a ₹650 crore dairy plant in Bengal, ending the industrial drought in the state.

For years, the previous government held grand business summits in the state. Numerous promises were made at those summits. Yet, the industrial drought in the state did not end. However, after the change of government in the state, the state party president gave a message of hope for industry, promising to show magic within 100 days. Within a few days of that message, news of a major investment in Bengal emerged. It was announced on the official social media of the state party. According to that post, Amul will invest 650 crore rupees in West Bengal after the change of government.

It is claimed, ‘Amul is bringing a mega project worth 650 crore rupees to West Bengal!’ According to that post, this will be Amul’s first fully owned dairy plant. This will strengthen the dairy infrastructure in Bengal and also bring a wave of employment, the post on the party’s official social media says.

However, according to a state minister, more such investments will come in the future. He said, “There is huge industrial potential in the state. I am receiving calls from Dubai, London, Singapore. Many are also calling from Delhi and Mumbai for investment.” However, bringing up the Haringhata issue, he informed that he had recently visited Haringhata. He saw extreme mismanagement. The minister also said that the situation of Mother Dairy is not good either. He said, earlier Mother Dairy used to produce 6 lakh litres of milk. Now it produces 30 thousand litres of milk. He also commented that ministers in the previous government ran a regime of plunder.
