Suspend SPPG, Mas Dhito Visits Students Suspected of MBG Poisoning
Regent of Kediri Hanindhito Himawan Pramana visited schoolchildren who were suspected of food poisoning from the MBG program the day before and were undergoing intensive care at Simpang Lima Gumul Regional Public Hospital.

The Kediri Regency Government has coordinated with the National Nutrition Agency and temporarily suspended the services of the Tugurejo Village Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit, Ngasem District.

This step was announced by Kediri Regent Hanindhito Himawan Pramana after visiting schoolchildren who were suspected of food poisoning from the Free Nutritious Meal program the day before and were undergoing intensive care at Simpang Lima Gumul Regional Public Hospital.

According to Mas Dhito, food samples have been sent to the laboratory. Of the six children being treated, one has been discharged and is undergoing outpatient care, while the other five remain hospitalized due to high white blood cell counts.

“If the lab results show that there are still harmful substances, then the SPPG cannot operate yet,” said Mas Dhito.

To prevent similar food poisoning cases, Mas Dhito added that the Kediri Regency Government, through the Education Office, has instructed schools to inspect food received from the SPPG before it is consumed by students.

Inspections are also expected to be carried out in all schools, including those under the Kediri Regency Ministry of Religious Affairs Office. These checks are considered very important since the food is prepared in the morning and consumed at noon.

With the food containers being tightly sealed, it is possible that something unwanted and dangerous could occur when consumed.

“Yesterday, the teachers actually tasted it first, but some had already been distributed to the children,” revealed Mas Dhito.

Mas Dhito emphasized that the Kediri Regency Government will continue to evaluate the poisoning incident. Specifically, if the SPPG fails to meet the required standards or standard operating procedures, the Sanitation Hygiene Eligibility Certificate will be revoked.

“If they don’t meet the requirements, we will revoke it. This is actually the first case in the regency, and hopefully, there won’t be any more,” he stated.
