SURABAYA – The PIN or personal identification number for the East Java 2026 Student Admission System (SPMB) officially opened on Thursday (May 28, 2026). The PIN is a mandatory requirement for prospective students who will register for public high schools and vocational schools in East Java.
The PIN application process is conducted online through the official SPMB East Java website by completing a number of predetermined administrative documents.
The Head of the East Java Education Office emphasized that taking the PIN is an important stage before prospective students undergo the new student admission selection process.
“Prospective students must log in using their NISN, the NPSN of their original school, date of birth, and the issuance date of their Family Card, SKD, or SKPD. After that, they fill in data and determine the location point of their domicile according to their population documents,” said the official, Thursday (May 28, 2026).
After completing the online data entry, prospective students are required to come to the nearest SMA or SMK recommended by the system to undergo the data verification and validation process.
Not only that, participants must also verify their domicile point before later signing the minutes of PIN collection. The PIN can only be downloaded one day after the verification process is completed.
The official urged the public not to panic or rush when taking the PIN because the time provided is still quite long.
“No need to rush. The important thing is that participants come to the nearest school as recommended by the system for the data verification and validation process. Make sure you don’t go to the wrong location,” he said.
For 2026 graduates of SMP/MTs in East Java whose report cards have not been input by their original school, participants are required to fill in their report card grades independently on the system before conducting verification at the destination school.
Additionally, the official asked the public to understand the mechanism of each SPMB admission path to avoid misunderstandings, especially for the SMA domicile path.
According to him, many people still think the domicile path is only based on the closest distance from home to the school. In fact, the main prioritized factor remains academic grades.
“Academic grades take priority, then domicile,” the official emphasized.
Prospective students are also reminded to ensure the chosen school is still within the zone according to the address on the family card.
For this 2026 SPMB, the East Java Education Office has made several changes to the registration stages. The SMA and SMK domicile path is now the first stage, opening on June 11–12, 2026. Previously, this path was in the third stage after the affirmation path.
Meanwhile, the affirmation path this year is scheduled to take place on June 17–18, 2026, together with the mutation and competition achievement paths.
The East Java Education Office also asks prospective students to pay attention to the verification schedule that appears in the system, including the school location and verification service hours. All required documents must be brought during the validation process.
“Even though it is during the joint leave or school holiday period, PIN collection services remain open every day during the SPMB,” he said.
To support the smooth running of the 2026 SPMB process, the East Java Education Office has prepared around 1,457 helpdesk officers throughout East Java to assist the public during the PIN collection and registration stages.
As information, the 2026 SPMB stages begin with the entry of report card grades by the head of SMP/MTs on May 11–19, 2026. This is followed by verification of report card grades by prospective students on May 18–21, 2026, and grade corrections on May 21–26, 2026.
The PIN collection stage runs from May 28 to June 9, 2026. The East Java Education Office also provides a simulation or registration practice on June 8–9, 2026.
The 2026 SPMB registration schedule is divided into four stages. The first stage, the SMA/SMK domicile path, takes place on June 11–12, 2026. The second stage, the affirmation, mutation, and competition achievement paths,
