A saffron storm swept through Falta, just like the rest of the state! BJP’s Debangshu Panda won by 1,09,021 votes. It goes without saying that the Diamond Harbour model of Trinamool’s all-India general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, has been shattered. Upon securing victory, Debangshu invited Abhishek Banerjee for a meal of fish and rice. Targeting Trinamool, he said, “Falta will no longer be run by intimidation. No atrocities will be committed against mothers and sisters. Democracy has returned here.”

Debangshu said, “Democracy has returned to Falta. Falta will no longer be run by intimidation. No atrocities will be committed against mothers and sisters. People have not been able to vote for 10-15 years. This time, everyone voted fearlessly. So, the Diamond Harbour model has been shattered.”
During election campaigning in Falta, Trinamool’s all-India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee made several provocative statements, ranging from crematorium construction to forcing fish sales. There was controversy over this during the change of power. With the Falta results clear, he targeted Abhishek Banerjee by recalling those words. However, BJP candidate Debangshu Panda did not take an aggressive approach. Abhishek had said, ‘I will sell fish by the neck.’ In response, Debangshu said, “I am educated. I will not use language like him. I say, come, I will feed you fish and rice.”
That’s not all. Regarding the results, Debangshu further said, “Democracy has returned to Falta. Falta will no longer be run by intimidation. No atrocities will be committed against mothers and sisters. People have not been able to vote for 10-15 years. This time, everyone voted fearlessly. So, the Diamond Harbour model has been shattered.” Debangshu said, “Trinamool is finished. There will be nothing left called Trinamool. Jahangir Khan is also finished. After this, legal action will certainly be taken against him.” After the victory, he also assured employment for the residents of Falta. The Left came in second place in Falta. Regarding this, Debangshu’s clear response was, “The one and a half lakh votes we received are from Hindus. The votes from Muslim areas went to the CPM and Congress.” Notably, the Trinamool candidate’s deposit was forfeited in Falta.
