US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is on a visit to India. On Sunday, he attended a special event in Delhi. During the event, US President Donald Trump sent a message of friendship to India via a video call. From distant America, he praised India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the live phone call, he said, “India will get whatever it asks for. I love Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I am his biggest fan.”
The event celebrated the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence. Trump’s message to Rubio via video call was, “You are our country’s representative. I greet everyone present. I love the Prime Minister (of India). Modi is a great person. He is my friend.” Trump was shown on the giant screen at the event. Notably, just yesterday, Rubio invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States, specifically to the White House.
Amidst the Ukraine-Russia, Israel-Hamas, and Iran-US conflicts, a deadlock has emerged globally. Economic risks are increasing. In this context, the relationship with India has deteriorated due to America’s strict immigration policies and tariff imposition policies. The Indo-US trade deal is still pending. In this situation, Trump’s praise for India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is significant. The US President said in the video call, “We have never been this close to India before. India can trust me and our country one hundred percent. If they need any help, they know who to call. They call upon us, and we will do the right thing.”
Trump added, “Our economy is record strong, and so is the stock market. India will get whatever it asks for (from us). And I am a big fan of Prime Minister Modi.” Trump also highly praised the US Secretary of State, calling him the greatest Secretary of State in American history. According to some analysts, Marco Rubio’s current visit and Trump’s generous message to India are aimed at mending the strained Delhi-Washington relationship.
