Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi Unveiled a 31-Foot Tall, 9-Ton Statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

In the heart of Diamond City and Silk City, Surat, a new golden chapter in education and social upliftment has been written. The Shri Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj-Surat, with the noble intention of providing excellent higher education facilities to the sons and daughters of the community, had the newly built ‘Jamanaba Vidyarthi Bhavan’ inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

At the magnificent ‘Jamanaba Vidyarthi Bhavan’ located at Maniben Chowk in Valk Patia, Surat, facilities for 1,000 students to live and study, an AI research lab, and a state-of-the-art library have been established. Along with this, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi unveiled a 31-foot tall, 9-ton panchadhatu (five-metal alloy) statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Dignitaries offered floral tributes to the statue of Sardar Saheb.

The inauguration of the former Chief Minister late Kesubhai Patel Auditorium was done by Union Minister of Labour and Employment and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya and Rajya Sabha MP Govindbhai Dholakia. The building was inaugurated by Jayantibhai Babaria (Eklera) and Annapurna Dham Chairman Ravjibhai Vasani by cutting the ribbon.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that every good deed and dedication done in the holy month of Adhik Maas yields manifold results, and the Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj has done the greatest work of truly pleasing Lord Purushottam through its welfare activities. This Patel organization is a living example of how rapid and large-scale development can occur when we all work together.

Praising the sacrifice and generosity of the Patidar community, the Chief Minister said that this community has always been accustomed to giving to others. Even in times of economic hardship, this community has maintained the tradition of helping those in need who come to their door without worrying about their own families. The Patidar society, which has the strength to extract water by breaking stones, is no longer limited to farming alone but has become a leader in industry, business, education, health, and from panchayats to Parliament, spreading a message of social harmony and unity.

He further stated that it is the result of the immense hard work of Patidar entrepreneurs that Surat has become famous worldwide as the ‘Diamond City’. Besides diamonds, this community has also worked hard in the fields of textiles, embroidery, and construction, making Surat a major center of global trade.

Praising this community, the Chief Minister said that a society that has prioritized education has always touched new heights of progress and prosperity. Despite living in Surat and making a living in the industrial world, this community has adopted the Prime Minister’s mantra of ‘Development through Heritage’, preserving the rural culture and traditions of their homeland and village, and has also prioritized the development of their native place.

Praising the 44-year glorious social journey of the Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj, the Chief Minister said that the organization has shown a new direction for social revolution by conducting about 67 mass marriages so far. Along with this, the ‘Planting Ideas’ program, running continuously for the past 140 weeks to steer people towards better ideas, is also commendable.

The Chief Minister mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to make the country a ‘Developed India and Self-Reliant India’ by the year 2047. He made a special appeal to the people of Surat and community leaders that we should all make the Prime Minister’s appeal for the wise use of resources in the nation’s interest a habit in our daily lives. Saving petrol, buying gold wisely, saving water and electricity – all these things are in our and the country’s long-term interest.
