A temporary plaza with food trucks and more will open at the former site of “Meitetsu Leisure” near Nagoya Station.

Nakamura Ward, Nagoya (two years ago)

Two years ago, the commercial building “Meitetsu Leisure” near Nagoya Station closed its doors after nearly half a century of history. Now, the urban plaza “Meieki Parklet” will open on its former site.

The plaza is designed as a casual rest stop for anyone, featuring benches and tables, space for up to three food trucks, and an event area for live music and other activities.

The former Meitetsu Leisure site is part of a larger redevelopment project spanning 400 meters north and south of Nagoya Station. The plaza also aims to build excitement for the upcoming redevelopment.

“Meieki Parklet” will remain open until next year when full-scale redevelopment construction begins.
