Appeal for Special Caution for Children, Pregnant Women, and the Elderly: Special 20-Bed Ward Prepared at Rajkot Civil Hospital

In view of the continuously rising temperatures and strong sunlight in Rajkot and several other cities in the state, the health department has appealed to people to take special precautions. Amid the increasing severity of the heat, considering cases of heatstroke, a special ward has been arranged at Rajkot Civil Hospital, where patients affected by heat and heatstroke are being identified and treated.

A medical officer at Rajkot Civil Hospital stated that a continuous rise in temperature has been recorded over the past few days. In such conditions, citizens have been advised to go out of their homes during the afternoon only if absolutely necessary. He said that caution is the most effective measure to prevent heatstroke.

The doctor specifically advised children, pregnant women, and the elderly to exercise extra vigilance. He said that to reduce the effects of heat and sunstroke, one should consume adequate amounts of water, buttermilk, lemon water, and other fluids throughout the day. Additionally, when going out in the afternoon, it was advised to wear full-sleeved clothes, cover the head and face, and adopt measures to protect from the sun.

According to the health department, if a person experiences symptoms such as dizziness, excessive sweating, a feeling of heaviness in the head, or fainting, they should immediately contact a hospital. A 24-hour emergency service has been started at Rajkot Civil Hospital so that needy patients can receive immediate treatment.

The hospital administration has prepared a special ward with 20 beds for heatstroke patients, where doctors, nursing staff, and a paramedical team are continuously providing services. Adequate arrangements for necessary medicines and facilities have also been made for the treatment of patients, so that patients and their families do not face any kind of inconvenience.
