TANGERANGNEWS.com-Prison does not seem to deter a man named Ijul. The man, who had just been released, was arrested again by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Benda Police Sector, Tangerang City Metro Police, after being proven to be a fence for stolen motorcycles.
This seasoned criminal was caught by police at a rented house in the Rawa Lele area, Kalideres, West Jakarta, on Friday afternoon, May 15, 2026. From his hands, officers seized one unit of a stolen Honda Scoopy motorcycle with a falsified license plate.
Benda Police Chief AKP Sriyono revealed that Ijul is a repeat offender who has been in and out of prison twice. His criminal record is noted at Salemba Prison in 2022 and Tangerang Prison in 2025 for the same case.
Instead of repenting, Ijul became even more skilled. Based on interrogation results, he admitted to buying stolen motorcycles from field operators more than 10 times.
“The perpetrator admitted to buying stolen motorcycles more than 10 times to then resell them via Cash on Delivery (COD),” said AKP Sriyono on Monday, May 18, 2026.
In his actions, Ijul received a stolen Honda Scoopy motorcycle belonging to a victim that was stolen on Atang Sanjaya Street, Benda District, Tangerang City. Ijul bought the motorcycle from an executor named Jebir for only IDR 3 million.
From this minimal capital, Ijul sought large profits by reselling it to the general public through a COD system.
“The profit obtained by the perpetrator ranged from IDR 500,000 to IDR 1.5 million per motorcycle unit,” explained the Police Chief.
Police Hunt Down Sales Network
Metro Tangerang City Police Chief, Kombes Pol. Dr. Raden Muhammad Jauhari, emphasized that they will not give any room to street crime perpetrators, including fences who fuel motorcycle theft actions.
Currently, police are conducting an in-depth investigation to dismantle the illegal motorcycle sales network managed by Ijul.
“Two motorcycle theft executors, namely Jebir and his accomplice Tono, have been arrested earlier, and their case has entered the second stage of submission to the prosecutor’s office,” he said.
