The Jakarta Provincial Government has partnered with the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police to optimize the use of CCTV to maintain security and order in the capital.

“providing a sense of security,”

The signing was carried out by the Jakarta Governor and the Jakarta Metro Police Chief, taking place at the Grand Hall, Jakarta City Hall, on Monday (May 18).

This cooperation aims to integrate CCTV management, whether owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government, regional-owned enterprises, agencies, or the police.

“Today, the Jakarta Government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jakarta Metro Police for joint regulation regarding the optimization of CCTV utilization,” the Governor said.

The Governor stated that strengthening this surveillance system will not only rely on public facilities but will also involve the private sector. The Jakarta Provincial Government, he continued, is currently integrating 7,314 CCTV units owned by regional agencies and enterprises into a single dashboard managed by the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Metro Police currently manages 3,362 CCTV units. The Jakarta Provincial Government will also encourage building owners with structures over four stories to comply with a Governor Regulation that mandates the provision and installation of CCTV, which will later be connected to an integrated command center.

Based on data from the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency, there is a potential of 16,781 CCTV units from private buildings, bringing the total potential for gradual integration to 24,095 CCTV units.

“The dashboard is located at the Jakarta Metro Police, at the Intelligence and Security Agency, and in Jakarta. I am confident this will provide a sense of security and comfort for all residents in Jakarta,” the Governor said.

This synergy is being carried out to strengthen early prevention efforts, map traffic congestion hotspots, and provide rapid responses to situations that could potentially disrupt security or disaster management.

The Governor hopes that the integration of CCTV management will make Jakarta safer and more comfortable, leading to a more peaceful life for the community.

“Hopefully, Jakarta as a global city, a national economic hub, and a city whose benchmark is no longer other cities in Indonesia but world cities, will become increasingly safe, livable, and sustainable,” the Governor said.

The Head of the Jakarta Provincial Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency added that the integration of CCTV to support city monitoring is carried out in real time and provides rapid responses when facing various challenges.

“From the initial verification results, the number of CCTV units in public areas that can be integrated reaches 7,314 points. We target this integration to be completed by the end of 2026,” the Agency Head said.

This CCTV integration is also utilized for the security and conduciveness of Jakarta. Currently, the number of CCTV units used by the National Police and the Jakarta Metro Police is 3,362.

“Through this CCTV integration, the Jakarta Provincial Government is expected to improve the effectiveness of city monitoring, accelerate service responses to the community, strengthen cross-agency coordination, and support real-time data-driven decision-making,” he explained.

The Jakarta Metro Police Chief appreciated the Jakarta Provincial Government for the cooperation that has been established so far. This cooperation to optimize CCTV utilization is considered very important in facing various challenges in the capital region.

“With the various challenges we face together, we need a system that can help us accelerate decision-making that must, of course, be factual, one of which is the results of CCTV monitoring,” the Police Chief said.

The presence of integrated CCTV will serve as a tool to prevent, monitor, respond to, and support the handling of security and public order disturbances, as well as traffic congestion.

“Hopefully, this activity will bring benefits to all of us, certainly in terms of policing, and in optimizing technology to anticipate crime and accelerate responses to people in need of police assistance,” he concluded.
