Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, met with Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in Beijing on May 18.

Wang Huning stated that China and Georgia are sincere and trustworthy good friends. China is willing to work with Georgia, guided by the important consensus of the two countries’ leaders, to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests, becoming partners of mutual respect and trust; deepen and expand cooperation in traditional and emerging fields, becoming partners of mutual benefit; enhance people-to-people exchanges, becoming partners of mutual understanding and affinity; strengthen multilateral communication and coordination, becoming partners of shared vision and action. The Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference is willing to make positive contributions to this end.

Papuashvili said that over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and China, bilateral relations have achieved tremendous development, with fruitful cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields. Georgia firmly adheres to the One-China principle and is willing to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, enhance friendly sentiments among various social sectors of both countries, elevate the Georgia-China strategic partnership to new heights, jointly uphold international law, and promote world peace and development.
