A fire consumed a temporary storage warehouse for plastic molds belonging to PT Star Cosmos, located on Jalan Agus Salim, Poris Plawad Induk Village, Cipondoh District, Tangerang City, on Thursday night, April 23, 2026.

The head of the Tangerang City Regional Disaster Management Agency confirmed that the agency received a report of the fire at around 11:12 PM local time.

In response to the report, firefighting teams were immediately dispatched to the scene with a total of 8 fire trucks.

“A total of 36 personnel were deployed, consisting of 11 from the Batu Ceper unit, 20 from the Mako (Bara) unit, and 5 from the Benda post,” he said on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Field officers worked quickly to contain the fire to an area of 4×24 square meters to prevent it from spreading.

“The operation was declared complete at 12:20 AM, and the teams returned to their respective units after ensuring the situation was fully safe and under control,” he stated.

Based on a preliminary field investigation, the fire was triggered by a small, carelessly discarded item.

“The fire is suspected to have originated from a still-lit cigarette butt in the plastic storage warehouse area,” he explained.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities in this incident. The value of material losses is still being assessed by the management of PT Star Cosmos.

In closing, he urged all industrial managers and the public to be more vigilant about potential fire hazards, including small things like cigarette butts.

“We ask all parties to be disciplined in disposing of cigarette butts and to ensure that electrical installations and warehouse security are always maintained. Small negligence can have a major impact on business operations and the safety of nearby residents,” he concluded.
