Logistics is the “main artery” of the economic cycle. The latest data from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing shows that in the first two months of this year, the total social logistics value in China reached 58.6 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.7% at comparable prices, with the growth rate rising by 1.6 and 1.4 percentage points respectively compared to the full year of 2025 and the same period in 2025.
“Currently, China’s total social logistics value is growing steadily, and the scale of logistics demand is expanding steadily.” China’s total social logistics value has grown from 229.7 trillion yuan in 2016 to 368.2 trillion yuan in 2025, an accumulated increase of over 60%. In 2025, the total revenue of China’s logistics industry exceeded 14 trillion yuan, and the logistics market has maintained the world’s leading position for ten consecutive years.
Ultra-long-term special government bonds and special bonds are being accelerated, and funds from new policy-based financial instruments are being deployed in an orderly and faster manner… Since the beginning of this year, the effectiveness of China’s macro policies has continued to be released. The resumption of work and production in the industrial chain and supply chain after the Spring Festival has been carried out in an orderly manner, and logistics operations have shown a good start with continuous accumulation of new momentum and continuous optimization of structure.
The growth rate of industrial product logistics has accelerated and rebounded. In the first two months, the total value of industrial product logistics in China increased by 6.3% year-on-year, contributing over 80% to the growth of the total social logistics value. The demand for logistics related to industrial production has been released simultaneously at an accelerated pace, and the growth rate of the total value of industrial product logistics has returned to a relatively fast growth range, still being the main growth driver of social logistics demand.
In the first quarter, China’s railways completed a total freight volume of 1.281 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%, and civil aviation completed a total cargo and mail transportation volume of 2.452 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%. China’s transport freight network has maintained smooth and efficient operation, the transport structure has been accelerated and optimized, and the in-depth promotion of multimodal transport has become a prominent highlight.
In terms of international logistics, affected by changes in regional geopolitical situations and increased uncertainty in traditional maritime shipping channels, the advantages of China’s stable and efficient international logistics channels, such as cross-border air freight and China-Europe Railway Express, have further stood out, becoming core alternatives for foreign trade logistics. In the first quarter, China’s international air cargo and mail transportation volume reached 1.105 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 17.6%; the China-Europe Railway Express operated a total of 5,460 trains, sending 546,000 TEUs of goods, with year-on-year increases of 29% and 22% respectively, achieving high-speed growth from a high base.
“In the next stage, efforts should be made to consolidate the advantages of the super-large market, advance the construction of a unified national market in depth, and ensure the smooth and stable flow of domestic and international logistics supply chains. At the same time, fully implement and detail various actions to effectively reduce the social logistics cost, guide logistics enterprises to optimize the quality of logistics service supply, and provide solid logistics guarantees for smoothing the national economic cycle and supporting the stable operation of the supply chain.”
