Uttarakhand, April 24, 2026. In view of the intense heat affecting many parts of the country, the education department has made a major decision. Keeping in mind the safety and health of students, school timings have been changed, which will remain in effect until May 15.
According to an order issued by the Chief Education Officer of Nainital, Govind Ram Jaiswal, a revised timetable has been implemented in all schools in the development blocks of Haldwani, Ramnagar, and Kotabagh in Nainital district until May 15. Under the new order, the morning assembly will now take place at 6:45 AM, while teaching activities will start at 7:00 AM and continue until 1:00 PM. This arrangement has been implemented with immediate effect.
The new timetable will not apply to schools located in mountainous areas; they will open as before. The education department stated that the continuously rising temperatures and the impact of heatwaves could adversely affect the health of students. Considering this, school timings have been adjusted to protect children from the severe heat.
Instructions for Parents and Schools
