West Bengal Election 2026: Voting is taking place on 152 seats in the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive public rally in Krishnanagar, Nadia district. During this, he praised the Election Commission heavily and launched a sharp attack on the TMC government.
What praise did the Election Commission receive?
PM Modi said, ‘I can say that in the last 50 years, this is the first election in which violence is at an absolutely minimal level.’ He said that earlier it was common to hang someone every week and call it a suicide. There was a rule of chaos and hooliganism here. I heartily congratulate the Election Commission; they have once again established the dignity of democracy on the soil of Bengal.
PM Modi further said, ‘I also appreciate the government employees here. Based on the information I have received so far, voter turnout is breaking all previous records.’ He said that in Krishnanagar today, the victory of trust over fear is visible. Those whose voices were suppressed for years are now speaking in one voice.

Today, the people of Bengal are blowing conch shells in every street and neighborhood in protest against the TMC’s jungle rule.
This election is being fought by the people: PM Modi
