Al-Jish Cemetery (2)
Al-Jish Cemetery is an ancient Jewish burial site located in the Galilee region of northern Israel, near the modern Arab town of Jish (Gush Halav). It dates primarily to the Roman and Byzantine periods (circa 2nd-6th centuries CE) and contains dozens of ornate stone sarcophagi, many featuring intricate carvings of Jewish symbols like menorahs. The cemetery is historically significant as it provides archaeological evidence of a substantial and prosperous Jewish community in the area during the Talmudic era.
Al-Zahra Hussainiya
Al-Zahra Hussainiya is a Shi’a Muslim religious and community center, primarily found in regions with Shi’a populations like Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon. It is named after Fatimah al-Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, and serves as a gathering place for mourning ceremonies, religious lectures, and community events, particularly during the Islamic months of Muharram and Safar to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain. While individual *hussainiyas* may have their own local histories, they collectively represent a longstanding tradition of Shi’a communal worship and memorialization that dates back centuries.
Al-Kawthar neighborhood
