Red Square

Red Square is a historic public square in the heart of Moscow, Russia, that has served as the country’s central marketplace, ceremonial ground, and political stage since the late 15th century. It is bordered by iconic landmarks like the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and the State Historical Museum, and has witnessed everything from imperial coronations and Soviet military parades to modern cultural events. Its name derives from the Russian word “krasnaya,” which originally meant “beautiful” and only later came to also signify the color red.
