An Ethiopia-Chongqing Shapingba Investment and Trade Fair was held in Chongqing. The “China-Ethiopia Cultural Tourism and Business Center” was inaugurated at the event, and the “Ethiopian Coffee Exhibition Center” project was launched simultaneously.

Focusing on Chongqing’s manufacturing “going global” and introducing Ethiopian resources, the two sides will engage in economic, trade, and cultural exchanges to promote the construction of a sustainable, multi-faceted economic and trade ecosystem.

“As one of Africa’s most attractive investment destinations, we are expanding cooperation opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture, energy, culture, and tourism through a series of reforms, creating a more transparent, standardized, and efficient development environment for investors seeking long-term, stable returns,” said the Ethiopian Ambassador to China. Over the years, trade volume between Ethiopia and China has continued to grow, with China becoming Ethiopia’s largest trading partner. As Ethiopia continuously optimizes its trade policies and improves infrastructure, the country holds rich opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture, energy, culture, tourism, and other fields.

The Ambassador stated that he looks forward to Chinese investors actively exploring the market for Ethiopian products, further deepening connections, and jointly exploring multi-faceted cooperation. Ethiopia will also make every effort to create a superior business environment and provide support for more Chinese enterprises investing in Ethiopia.

It was introduced that the “China-Ethiopia Cultural Tourism and Business Center” and the “Ethiopian Coffee Exhibition Center” project will provide one-stop services such as policy consultation, legal support, and business matching for high-quality African specialty products like Ethiopian coffee and cultural tourism resources to enter the western Chinese market. Simultaneously, they will promote in-depth interaction between the two sides in cultural tourism, art exhibitions, talent training, and other fields, accelerating the promotion of more “Chongqing-made” products like new energy motorcycles and agricultural machinery to Africa.

Ethiopian Coffee Exhibition Center

The Ethiopian Coffee Exhibition Center in Addis Ababa is a modern cultural institution dedicated to showcasing Ethiopia’s deep-rooted history as the birthplace of coffee. It traces the story from the legendary discovery of the coffee bean in the Kaffa region to its central role in Ethiopian social rituals and its development as a major global export. The center serves as both an educational museum and a vibrant hub for promoting the country’s diverse coffee varieties and traditional coffee ceremony.
