Demolition work continues on the ruins of the burned musical theater in Khabarovsk. As of today, half of the building containing the lobby and auditorium has been completely demolished. Dismantling of the main, taller section has now begun.

The demolition will proceed as follows: an excavator with a boom length exceeding 35 meters and the capability to use interchangeable equipment will essentially move around the building and collapse it in sections. The work is scheduled for completion no later than December 20, 2025.

The auction for demolishing the burned HMT was won by a participant who offered a price of 55.2 million instead of the stated 120 million.

HMT building

The HMT building refers to the historic headquarters of Hindustan Machine Tools in Bengaluru, India, established in 1953. It was a pioneering public sector enterprise that played a vital role in India’s industrial development, manufacturing machine tools, watches, and tractors. While the company faced decline in later years, its iconic building remains a symbol of India’s post-independence industrial heritage.
