Dr. Fahd Al-Khudairi, a specialist in carcinogen research, warned of the increasing rates of blood clots among young people under the age of 40, pointing out that modern lifestyle is the main factor behind this concerning phenomenon.
He explained that a combination of lifestyle-related factors significantly contributes to this heightened risk, most notably obesity, lack of physical activity, and inactivity due to the absence of regular daily movement such as walking. He also highlighted the impact of unhealthy eating habits, including the consumption of fast food high in artificial fats and sugars, as well as excessive intake of carbonated drinks.
He emphasized the growing danger posed by modern smoking methods, such as e-cigarettes and vaping devices, which recent studies have shown to increase the likelihood of heart, lung, and even peritoneal membrane diseases.
Dr. Al-Khudairi stressed that these products, marketed under names like “vape” and “shisha,” are among the new toxins threatening public health. He called for increased public awareness and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and physical activity, to prevent these growing health risks.
