A major cyber fraud case has emerged in Mumbai, where a 72-year-old stock market investor and his wife were cheated of 58 crore rupees. The criminals posed as ED and CBI officers and kept the victims under digital arrest. The victims were forced to transfer money to various accounts for nearly two months.
The Maharashtra Nodal Cyber Police arrested three accused in this case on Wednesday. The arrested accused include 47-year-old Abdul Nasir Khulli (Malad), 55-year-old Arjun Kadvasra (Chira Bazaar), and 35-year-old Jetharam Kadvasra (Central). According to police, the accused’s bank accounts were used for money transfers and routing.
The investigation revealed that the money was transferred through RTGS to 18 different accounts in various states. This included a company account in the name of Abdul Nasir Khulli’s wife. The accused prepared fake documents to intimidate the victims and demanded money deposits.
Police stated that Abdul Nasir Khulli was working under the direction of Gujarat’s Ankit Shah and arranged to withdraw and transfer money by traveling to Rajasthan and Gujarat. Cases have been registered against the accused under the IT Act and BNS sections. Police said there could be more arrests in this case.
