BankPark YOKOHAMA, which opened on October 4th, is just a 1-minute walk from Yokohama City Hall
The “Nature Kids Festa” will be held at BankPark YOKOHAMA (6 Honcho, Naka-ku, Yokohama) on October 11th.
The event aims to create opportunities for children to proactively think about the environment and the future of their community in preparation for “GREEN×EXPO 2027” scheduled for 2027. As part of the “Yokohama Nature Kids” project, the event focuses on decarbonization and nature-positive themes, with collaborative planning by local schools, community organizations, and businesses.
The venue will feature workshops, exhibitions, and sales booths where visitors can experience initiatives focused on creating a circular society. The event includes projects and exhibitions proposed by elementary school children from schools such as Segasaki, Tsurumi, and Aoki Elementary Schools, environmental-related presentations, and “My Flower Expo Bento” ideas conceived by elementary and middle school students including those from special needs schools, organized by the association “Yokohama Spice.” These activities will convey themes like “Circular Economy Plus” and “Local Production for Local Consumption” to promote regional circulation and resource utilization.
Experience programs include exhibits by “Tsurusui (Tsurumi River Aquarium)” showcasing the ecology of the Tsurumi River, and flower workshops focused on reducing floral waste. There will also be food sales by Yokohama Seya Gapao Festival and introductions to children’s bento box product development projects.
Environment-themed workshops and exhibitions will include a workshop creating bath salts using olive leaves from Yokohama, and exhibits from the Athre Forest Regeneration Project featuring Yokohama Kanazawa Kurofune Soap made from recycled mandarin orange peels discarded from school lunches. BankPark YOKOHAMA, which just opened on October 4th, also serves as a collaborative hub for the circular economy.
The event will be held in two sessions: morning (10:00-12:00) and afternoon (13:00-15:00) with rotating attendance. Participation is free and no reservations are required.
