The Medina Region Municipality announced that the completion rate of the Al-Aqoul Park project has reached 54%. The park serves as a developmental and recreational destination that contributes to enhancing the quality of life in the region. The Al-Aqoul Park project, being developed by the Municipality, spans an area of 1.2 million square meters and includes a flower garden, children’s play areas, a landmarks exhibition, a heritage market, and skating and entertainment zones. The Al-Aqoul Park project is part of a package of municipal projects launched during 2023, which included the establishment and operation of 3 major central parks, in addition to creating 135 neighborhood parks in residential areas. The major park projects include the development and completion of King Fahd Central Park south of Medina on an area of 1.6 million square meters, along with the establishment of the Central Park west of Medina on an area of 1.2 million square meters at a cost of 465 million riyals, in addition to the creation of Al-Aqoul Park. The major park projects aim to increase per capita green space and enhance vegetation cover in residential areas in alignment with the Saudi Green Initiative targets. These projects seek to create an environment conducive to recreational activities for residents, enhance public health, and improve access to recreational services as part of the Municipality’s plan to improve the urban landscape and humanize the city.
