A man died from hydrogen sulfide poisoning near “Ōyunuma” in Yuri, Rankoshi, Hokkaido, while visiting the area for repair work.

A 78-year-old man from Sapporo was found collapsed along the Bamba River near “Ōyunuma” and was confirmed dead at the hospital.

An autopsy revealed the cause of death was hydrogen sulfide poisoning.

According to police, the site was outside the walking path and had no-entry signs posted, indicating it was not an area accessible to tourists.

Ōyunuma
